Christmas is nice. Christmas is sweet. Christmas is the time of year when you are on your best behavior. Yes, Christmas is all of these things, but none of it means Christmas is not allowed to rock. This holiday season, give the gift that will make their head bang, fist pump or toes tap. The Indianapolis music scene is chock-full of local up-and-comings and top national touring acts. So this year get that special someone on your list and get them a front row seat to awesome.
Do you remember the band that was playing the first night you and your sweethang meet? Well, do the sweet thing and track them down this Christmas season for the perfect gift. Were things a little fuzzy by the time you left and you can’t quite remember which of the many Indianapolis bars you were in?
Remember the bar but forgot the band? No need to worry, FunCityFinder has it covered. Our Indianapolis bands page has over 50 homegrown acts that are sure to please everyone’s musical pallet. So, find what band would look best in a stocking hung by the chimney with care, find their next show and make sure you are there.
Don’t think the band your looking will be playing the bar scene anytime soon? Then just go bigger. While we do offer a break down all of the Indianapolis music venues, let me point out a few of the big boys to help you find the show best for you.
Lucas Oil Stadium, in the center of downtown Indianapolis, is an enormous conglomeration of world-class stadium, viewing suites, concerts and convention space.
The Lawn at White River State Park is an outdoor concert venue providing some of the nation’s top acts in its summer concert series. This venue, named one of the top 100 outdoor concert venues, provides music lovers with an unforgettable outdoor concert experience on the banks of the White River.
Home to two world-class music venues, the Murat Theatre and the Egyptian Room, the Murat Centre is one of the most popular live music and Broadway production venues available in Indy.
The Music Mill is a combination restaurant/concert venue. It closed briefly at the end of February 2009 and reopened on April 17, 2009, with a free concert, kicking off a brand new season of national and local acts.
Located on the northern reaches of Indy and the southern border of its suburb, Noblesville, the Verizon Wireless Music Center is the site of some of the most popular music concerts in the Midwest, attracting big names to the popular venue, especially country artists.
The famous singers and bands that have taken the stage at The Vogue can’t be listed in their entirety, but it should be noted that Bo Diddley, The White Stripes, Johnny Cash, The Dave Matthews Band, and Bob Weir and Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead have walked through the back entrance of Indianapolis‘ premier nightclub.
So, for those about to rock this Christmas, Santa salutes you.
