As one of the most vibrant dance companies in Indianapolis, Dance Kaleidoscope presents World Music Carnaval, an upbeat and colorful journey around the world through music and dance. If you have yet to see this Indianapolis performing arts troupe, this might just be their most fun production yet. There is no time like the present to experience something new, and no better way to start 2010 then by supporting Indianapolis arts organizations.
With music from countries as varied as Brazil to Saudi Arabia, this dance performance will make you want to jump out of your seat and shake your money maker down the aisles of the Indiana Repertory Theatre‘s main stage. Running Thursday, January 7 through Sunday, January 10, 2010, World Music Carnival by Dance Kaleidoscope is fun for the whole family.
Take your Indianapolis kids on a journey around the world and add to their Indianapolis education with World Music Carnaval. When you walk into the streets of the Circle City after seeing this show, you will feel as if your passport has been stamped one hundred times over. Dance Kaleidoscope presents their newest performance in two parts: Play Mas and Food of Love.
Play Mas is a vibrant upbeat collection of dances inspired by Brazilian and Trinidadian Carnavals. These cultural celebrations generally feature parades where the main events are large costume sculptures. Dance Kaleidoscope will don its own version of these over the top outfits, as they dance their way through these toe tapping, rump shaking beats.
Plus, look forward to the return of Food of Love. This exotic blend of international music was a smash hit with Indianapolis people in its first incarnation. Sensual dancing paired with sumptuous costumes and exotic music make for an enthralling and titillating evening of Indianapolis theatre. Be transported by music from Argentina, Pakistan, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Spain and parts of Africa. See it a second time (or a first) and be amazed at the sensuousness of Indianapolis’ favorite colorful dance group as they present World Music Carnaval.
Tickets are available at the Indiana Repertory Theatre’s website. For more information about World Music Carnaval or Dance Kaleidoscope, visit their official website.
