Indianapolis performing arts welcomes award winning dance performance Groovaloo to Clowes Memorial Hall on the campus of Butler University. Tickets to this Indianapolis art event range from $35.00 to $20.00. Groovaloo breaks down the house at Clowes Memorial Hall for one night only Saturday, January 30 at 8:00 pm. Don’t miss your chance to see this innovative and hip dance group perform in Indy!
As one of the most visable dance crews in the United States, the Groovaloos enjoy the highest levels of commercial and artistic success. They have performed with stars such as Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, and even The Black Eyed Peas. Their television credits include Step Up 2, America’s Best Dance Crew, So You Think You Can Dance, One Cubed, The Wayne Brady Show, Ellen and commercials for iPod, McDonalds and more. The Groovaloos have racked up awards such as 1st place at The American Street Dance Championships with the ease of walking.
Bradly “Shooz” Rapier founded the group in 1999 in collaboration with Danny Cistone. As master minds of the hip hop sensation, the two have worked with members of the Groovaloos to create the one of a kind show Groovaloo. Through a difficult process of considering the strengths and weaknesses of each individual member of the Groovaloos, Cistone and Rapier created a show that delves into the deepest human fears and personal secrets, touching the pulse of humanity. With the authenticity of A Chorus Line and the energy of Stomp, Groovaloo is an exciting journey through the world of hip hop dance.
Combining amazing displays of physical ability, a colorful musical score and spoken word poetry, the show touches on the challenges, hopes and victories of the fourteen member cast. Join them on their journey toward the true meaning of family and share the feeling of being “in the circle.” As the BoogieMan proclaims, “Life isn’t always choreographed, sometimes you have to freestyle.” For more information about Groovaloo at Clowes Memorial Hall, visit the Clowes Hall website.
