Cirque Du Soleil’s Alegria Comes to Conseco Fieldhouse

Looking for an overwhelming surprise for you sweetie this Valentine’s Day? Take her to a Alegria, a production by the world famous Cirque Du Soleil, at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis downtown. The Indiana Pacers turn their home turf over to the renowned traveling troupe of Cirque Du Soleil this weekend. Catch Alegria, a once in a lifetime experience, Thursday, February 11 through Sunday, February 14. Better than roses or chocolates, nothing says I love you like flying trapeze artists. Tickets for this Indianapolis event are going fast and range from $35.00 to $175.00.

Alegria is “a mood, a state of mind,” according to the creators of Cirque Du Soleil, Guy Laliberte, Franco Dragone and Gilles Ste-Croix. The performance is a visual feast for the eyes, with stunning acrobatics and feats of danger, all centered around theme of the shows title, which means “jubilation” in Spanish. Alegria explores the nature of power as it is handed down over time. It tracks the evolution of ancient monarchies to modern democracies and the transition from old age to youth.

A host of characters live out their lives to this background. Kings’ fools, minstrels, beggars, old aristocrats and children make a community like no other, yet seems to mirror our own. Alegria features a performers capable of performing the most daring acts including aerial high bar, contortion, fire knife dance, flying man, hand balancing, manipulation, power track, Russian bars and synchronized trapeze.

Indianapolis theatre goers will be dazzled by these physical artists and entertained by the various characters in Alegria. From Fleur to the nostalgic old birds to Tamir to the Nymphs and Clowns, these outlandish caricatures will have you on the edge of your seat. Not to mention the powerhouse voices of the White Singer and the Black Singer, dressed in opposing colors and with opposing attitudes.
