With Malice Toward None and With Charity for All: Two New Exhibits on Abraham Lincoln

The Indiana State Museum presents the Library of Congress’ With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition in tandem with their own exhibit With Charity for All: The Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection. Tickets to both Lincoln exhibits are included in the price of general admission, but timed tickets are required for both. This Indianapolis attraction hosts two Lincoln exhibits from February 12 to April 11, 2010.

With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition

With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition comes to Indianapolis direct from Washington DC’s Library of Congress. The exhibit celebrates the 200 year anniversary of Lincoln’s birthday. As the United States‘ sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln ranks as one of the most revered American leaders of all time. The Library of Congress traveling exhibit reveals what was at the heart of Abraham Lincoln as he faced one of the most trying challenges in presidential and United States history: the disintegration of the Union.
Learn about Abraham Lincoln the man, whose “thoughts, words and actions were deeply affected by personal experience and pivotal historic events.” With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition features documents, books, broadsides, newspapers, prints, photographs, artifacts and maps in a combination to chart Lincoln’s legacy from Midwest politician to President of the United States of America.

Glimpse into this window of his presidency and learn how he coped with the Civil War and the great task of healing a wounded nation. Distinguished Americans provide filmed commentary throughout the exhibit, giving an idea of the lasting scope of Abraham Lincoln’s accomplishments. Indianapolis kids and adults alike will be enthralled with interactive programs that trace Lincoln’s trip from Springfield, Illinois to Washington DC as the president elect and his funerary trip back to Springfield as the nation mourned one more fallen soldier.

Complete with foundational American documents such as Lincoln’s First and Second Inaugural addresses, the Gettysburg Address and the Emancipation Proclamation, this exhibit delves deep into the heart of one of the United States’ finest leaders.

With Charity For All: The Lincoln Financial Collection

Since his birth on a Kentucky farm 200 years ago, Abraham Lincoln has grown to almost mythological proportions. But who was “Honest Abe”? With Charity For All: The Lincoln Financial Collection charts Abraham Lincoln, the man. “A loyal friend, an independent son, a compassionate husband and a notoriously lenient father,” Lincoln was much more than the lore lets on.

Artifacts from Lincoln’s life come together in With Charity For All: The Lincoln Financial Collection to paint an accurate picture of an ordinary man who did extraordinary things. Organized by the Indiana State Museum, this Abraham Lincoln exhibit is a perfect compliment to the traveling Library of Congress exhibit.
