Each week the Indiana State Fairgrounds in downtown Indianapolis finds itself host to a collage of activities for Hoosiers. This Valentine’s Day Weekend, check out what is happening at the Indiana State Fairgrounds (singles more than welcome). From the Indy Winter Classic Dog Show to Stewart’s Indiana Flea Market to the 51st Annual 500 World of Wheels, the Indiana State Fairgrounds are buzzing with fun for the whole family. Pick one, two or do all three. Indianapolis people that take advantage of this Indiana attraction in their own backyard know just how satisfying a weekend at the Indiana State Fairgrounds can be (even in February).
Indy Winter Classic Dog Show
The Indy Winter Classic Dog Show got underway yesterday (Thursday, February 11, 2010) and goes strong through this Sunday, February 14, 2010. Dog lovers unite this Valentine’s Day Weekend to show their love for “man’s best friend.” Sponsored by the Hoosier Kennel Club Inc., the Indy Winter Classic Dog Show consists of two parts: the four day all breed dog shows the and three day obedience trial and rally.
For pet owners with pure bred dogs, they often claim their pooch is the top physical specimen in Indiana, the United States and possible the world. Now its time for them to put their money where their mouth is, as these puppies are put on parade. Dozens of breed groups will be on display including hounds, sporting, working, terrier, toy, non sporting and herding. Pick your favorite from each breed and find out who wins Best in Show!
The Central Indiana Kennel Club all breed show happens on Thursday, February 11, 2010 and Saturday, February 13, 2010. The Hoosier Kennel Club Inc. all breed show takes over on Friday, February 12, 2010 and Sunday, February 14, 2010. A number of specialty clubs devoted to doggy championships will participate including the Alaskan Malamute Club, the Dalmatian Club of Greater Indianapolis and fifteen others, each devoted to a special breed of dog.
And don’t forget the three day obedience trial and rally. These pups have been training on special courses to strut their stuff this weekend and prove once and for all which is the most agile and obedient dog. Watch as trainers and pooches work together to complete a course of obedience challenges this Friday, February 12, 2010 through Sunday, February 14, 2010.
It is a big weekend for dogs of Indiana at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The Indy Winter Classic Dog Show takes over the West and Pioneer Our Land Pavilions. Open Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission Friday through Sunday is $5.00 for Indianapolis people. Stewart’s Indiana Flea Market
Stewart’s Indiana Flea Market returns to the Indiana State Fairgrounds Friday, February 12, 2010 through Sunday, February 14, 2010. This FREE Indianapolis event has become a standard occurrence at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and a staple of many Hoosier’s Indianapolis shopping experience. Their last appearance at the State Fairgrounds was just after Thanksgiving. Now that the holidays are over, Stewart’s Indiana Flea Market returns to the Circle City.
Find the largest selection of arts and craft, collectibles, antiques, electronics, jewelry, home decor, grocery and drug store supplies, Stewart’s Indiana Flea Market is a bargain hunter’s heaven. Tell your collector friends and family members, as this is THE place to find the final piece of your collection to make that elusive complete set. Plus, Indianapolis artists will be on hand to share their Indianapolis art. Find a new inspiration to hang over your living room sofa.
Since 1976, Stewart’s Indiana Flea Market has been connecting buyers and sellers at their flea market. This family run tradition, offers more than 300 booths. Stewart’s Indiana Flea Market takes over the Agriculture and Horticulture Building this weekend. Doors open at noon on Friday and close at 6:00 pm. Saturday arrive at 10:00 am and shop til you drop at 6:00 pm. Sunday doors open at 10:00 am and close at 4:00 pm. 51st Annual 500 World of Wheels
Motorcycle and auto enthusiasts unite this weekend as the Indiana State Fairgrounds plays host to the 51st Annual 500 World of Wheels! This annual convention features all things automotive for the oil monkey in your family! This year’s 500 World of Wheels convention has a few special features to thrill attendees.
Don’t miss the Drag City USA exhibit, which will feature Kalitta’s 1967 “Bounty Hunter,” Prudhomme’s 1970 “Wynns Winder” and Garlits 1960 “Swamp Rat III,” 1962 “Swamp Rat IV” and 1966 “Swamp Rat VIII.” Also the Pinstriper Panel Jam and Auction will be donating all its proceeds to The Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana. Plus, MOTORAMA 1962, which will feature traditional rods, customs and bobbers. One top of all this, Gauge Magazine’s Lifestyle Section presents Euro Customs, Sport Compacts, Tuners and Mini Truck. And be sure to catch the All American Motorcycle show presented by Harley Davidson of Indianapolis.
Special guest appearances at the 500 World of Wheels Auto show include Sean Shrek, Brenda Song, Honky Tonk Man, Greg the Hammer Valentine, Virgil the Body Guard, Luke Buschwhacker Williams and Spongebob Squarepants.
