The International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI) bears many fruits for the Indianapolis music scene. The Indianapolis festival, a world renowned music competition that takes place in Indy once every four years, brings the spotlight of the international music world on the humble confines of the Circle City, illuminating other Indianapolis music organizations like the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and other classical music vehicles.

However, Indianapolis benefits from the IVCI much more often than every four years, thanks to the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis Laureate Series. Tonight, Tuesday, February 16, Indianapolis society gets the treat of another performance by an IVCI laureate and his group: Deninzon’s Jazz Cabaret. The cabaret is comprised of four members: lead violinist and composer Joe Deninzon, bassist Bob Bowen, guitarist Steve Benson, and drummer Lucianna Padmore. Combining gypsy jazz and swing music with modern pop and rock, Deninzon’s Jazz Cabaret will recreate a relaxing lounge experience by showcasing their excellent compositions and technical prowess.

Joe Deninzon, the leader of Deninzon’s Jazz Cabaret, is famous in the United States and abroad for his accomplished violin, mandolin, and guitar playing. He has recorded with a number of different recording artists, including Deep Purple, Everclear, Johnny Mathis, and Robert Bonfiglio. He has also been featured on a number of Indianapolis media stations, played for former president Clinton, and was a soloist for the New York Chamber Ensembles. Deninzon’s Jazz Cabaret is one of his more accomplished side projects.
