St. Patrick’s Day is coming up in a few weeks. In the grand city of Indianapolis, and in many of the nearby suburban cities in Indiana, Hoosiers love this fun, once-a-year opportunity to party down. They tend to take their green beer every bit as seriously as they take their blue beer while cheering on the Indianapolis Colts.
There is a plethora of Irish pubs in and around Indy, and they pull out all the stops every March 17, the date of St. Paddy’s Day. In most of these ethnic Indianapolis bars and restaurants, you can enjoy live Indianapolis music performed by excellent Indianapolis bands such as Mother Grove, a well-known Celtic band. While you’re there, wolf down a classic Salmon Boxty and Corned Beef and Cabbage dish, and wash it all down with a glass of green beer imported from the Old Country.Contests and lots of specials add even more interest. Even if you happened to somehow miss last September’s Indy Irish Fest, a hugely popular Indianapolis festival, you have another chance to frolic the Irish way this St. Patrick’s Day at any of the greater Indianapolis Irish pubs.
