Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Presents The Listener

Introduce your Indianapolis kids to Indianapolis culture in a fun and engaging way this Sunday. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra collaborates with Magic Circle Mime Co. to present The Listener this Sunday, February 28 at Hilbert Circle Theatre. This kid friendly Indianapolis music performance offers both classical music performances from the symphony and zany physical performances from two outrageous mimes. This Indianapolis art event happens one afternoon only, this Sunday at 2:30 pm.

The Listener was conceived by Magic Circle Mime Co. to unite concert orchestra with visual theatre in a family friendly performance. The conductor, Sean Newhouse, has planned a concert featuring a wide range of music from Mozart to John Williams. But when two overly enthusiastic audience members want to get in on the action, his efforts are complicated. A bugle playing mime wants to sing opera with the orchestra, while a tap dancing ballerina struts her stuff on stage. Watch as the conductor tries to keep his concert from spiraling out of control.

The Listener is part of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s St. Vincent Family Series. Be sure to arrive early to the concert for the hands-on Music Explorer activities designed to engage kids with music. The Listener features music from a broad range of composers: John Williams to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Leonard Bernstein to Tchaikovsky and more.
