Spring has almost arrived in the Circle City, and your Indianapolis kids will be ready for some fun in the sun as soon as the temperatures begin to climb. Now is the perfect time to get your child signed up for Spring Break Camp: Archaeology, Action and Art at Conner Prairie!
This fun Indianapolis event is bigger and better than ever this year, and you’ll want to make sure to get your children registered soon so they don’t miss out on this enriching and exciting activity. Held April 8 and 9, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., this annual day camp is one of the most popular offerings at Conner Prairie. Conner Prairie Living History Museum is located in Fishers, Indiana.
At Spring Break Camp: Archaeology, Action and Art, your kids will have the opportunity to live like a real archaeologist. They will learn, in an interactive-hands-on environment, the basics of archaeology and will participate in an authentic dig. They’ll even take a tractor ride to the dig site find their own treasures from the ground to take home as a souvenir of their experience. They will then meet with experts who will help them put these keepsakes back together.
And that’s just the beginning of this stimulating, two-day adventure in the past. Next, your children will be able to hike through Lenape Indian Camp, navigate a canoe on the pond, and build their very own wigwam. A tour of the pottery shop at Conner Prairie is next, adding a dose of Indianapolis art to their education-packed day of fun.
Admission to Spring Break Camp: Archaeology, Action and Art at Conner Prairie is $50 per camper (or $50, if you child is already a member of the park). All children should bring their own sack lunches and enough drinks for a busy day of learning. In the afternoon, your child can expect a special treat with roasted smores over an outdoor fire.
