March has landed in the Hoosier state, and we all know what that means: basketball, basketball, and more basketball. But if you want to get in on March Madness here in the Circle City and basketball isn’t quite your thing, you can still celebrate in your own way: by signing up for the Big Ten Hoops Day 5K at Conseco Fieldhouse.
This fun Indianapolis event on Sunday, March 14 has it all: competition, a gorgeous downtown Indianapolis view, and a street party atmosphere on a Spring afternoon. The Big Ten Hoops Day 5K takes place, not coincidentally, on Championship Sunday of the Big Ten’s Men’s Basketball Tournament. What better place to celebrate the action than at the home of your Indiana Pacers, Conseco Fieldhouse?
This race is open to anyone, runners and walkers, and is perfect for beginners who are just looking for a fun way to stay fit. Feel free to arrive early enough for some friendly hoops competition on Pennsylvania Street with other participants and revelers, or just take in the sight of Indy basketball fans gearing up for March Madness and all the fun it entails.
The Big Ten Hoops Day 5K will take you on a charming loop of downtown, and you’ll pass by several Big Ten-themed Indianapolis bars and Indianapolis restaurants, where the beer will be flowing and the inhabitants will be cheering you on. There’s no better way to get in your exercise for the day and show your Indiana spirit at the same time.
Packet pick up for the race will be from 9:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. the day of the event at Conseco, and the start line is on Pennsylvania Street right outside. So visit the official event website to register now and to find out more details about parking, cost, etc. And don’t forget to wear your team’s favorite colors to the Big Ten Hoops Day 5K!
