This “refreshingly bizarre” comedian has enjoyed a cult following across the United States in the past few years, which is “a nice way of saying,” Downey explains, “I have only 28 fans.” But recently this funny guy has taken flight in the world of comedy. With frequent bookings at the Comedy Stop in the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas (four per year, to be exact) comedy clubs across the nation have started to take notice of Kevin Downey Jr.’s work.

Now that Downey is playing “A” clubs packed with larger and larger crowds, he has finally hit a stride in his career that will, hopefully, carry him to the top. Downey got his start in Detroit, Michigan of all places. He made his television debut at the ripe old age of six on “The Bozo Show.” The experience, as Downey recalls, garnered him a hockey stick, a 12-pack of Orange Crush and some Tootsie Rolls, all for playing “The Bug Game.” This taste of the limelight at the age of six left quite an impression on Downey, as the Orange Crush could not wash the taste of stardom out of his mouth.
