Indianapolis is home to some excellent sports facilities and parks. Eagle Creek Park is an Indianapolis park that always has something to do for everyone, from live Indianapolis music at the amphitheater to the Indianapolis bark park for your furry friends. But the crown jewel in the cap of Eagle Creek Park is the Eagle Creek Golf Club.

Eagle Creek Golf Club is routinely voted one of the best golf courses in the United States by a variety of different sources, including Golf Digest magazine. Its 36 holes of luxurious fairways, thick rough, tricky shots, and deceptive greens were designed by legendary course designer Pete Dye, also the mastermind behind many other successful Indiana golf courses like Dye’s Walk and Crooked Stick Golf Club. It’s no wonder Eagle Creek Golf Club was the site of the 1982 USGA Public Links Championship and is the official golf course of the Indianapolis Colts.
There are two courses at Eagle Creek Golf Club: The Sycamore Course and The Pines Course. Both courses are comprised of eighteen holes and offer their own unique set of challenges. On the Sycamore Course, the first hole has a big drop in elevation from the tee to the green, allowing power drivers to send the ball into the stratosphere. The rest of the course is dotted with large water hazards (especially on holes three, four, eight, and eleven), dense trees, and underbrush, and the sixth hole has an almost certain death trap of bunkers and woods lining the left side of the fairway.
The Pines Course offers no respite in difficulty, though there are less water hazards. The first hole requires powerful driving skills, while the fourth hole requires that you navigate around the treacherous bunkers dotting the fairway. Each hole in the Pines Course demands excellent ball control and awareness of your surroundings; one misstep, and you may spend the round digging yourself out of the rough. Both the Sycamore Course and the Pines Course at Eagle Creek Golf Club can provide a difficult, rewarding game of golf for Indianapolis sports fans.
If you haven’t hit the links in a while or you’re not quite ready to challenge the course, Eagle Creek Golf Club has a state of the art practice facility that’s designed to get you up to speed. There are over two acres of fresh turf to hit from, ensuring you’ll always find an unmarred spot to practice on. There are also six target greens to shoot for, bunkers to avoid, and yardage signs to let you know just how far you’ve let that ball sail. Eagle Creek Golf Club also offers private golf lessons at the practice facility. This Indianapolis school, headed by Ben Heaver of Brian Kirk Golf Schools, allows you to take full advantage of the practice area with targeted lessons on driving, swing mechanics, chipping, putting, and ball control.
If you find that your equipment is a bit lacking, consider a stop at the Eagle Creek Golf Club pro shop before heading out to either the Sycamore Course or the Pines Course. The pro shop is fully stocked with all the best brands, lines, and apparel. Titleist, Callaway, Nike, and Top-Flite are all available here, and the professional staff at the pro shop can get you fitted for those cutting edge clubs you just bought. The pro shop also has lots of apparel on sale; don’t miss the chance to look fashionable out on the course!
The legendary course and grounds at Eagle Creek Golf Club is a fantastic place to host your next Indianapolis event. Tons of different gatherings and outings have been held at Eagle Creek Golf Club, including Indianapolis business events, weddings, galas, banquets, and more. The Conference Center and Banquet Room plays host to hundreds of events each year, from large to small. Over 200 hundred people can be seated at the 4,000 square foot pavilion and be waited on hand and foot by the professional staff and full service kitchen provided at the facility. Your guests can spend their time outside on a terrace overlooking the beautiful 18th hole of the Sycamore Course; a tantalizing preview of the excellent game of golf to come. There are few finer places to hold an elegant event than at the conference center at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
For many, Eagle Creek Golf Club is one of the best golf courses in Indiana. Indeed, it has been voted as one of the best public courses in the nation by Golf Digest on several occasions: a high honor. It lives up to its reputation, too; the Sycamore Course and the Pines Course consist of well designed, intricately difficult holes where you’ll have to use every bit of strategy available to you to succeed. Some of the best golfers in the country have been defeated by the courses at Eagle Creek Golf Club; it’s no wonder a game of golf here is one of the most fun Indianapolis things to do.
