Sesame Street Live at the Old National Theatre Presents Elmo’s Green Thumb

Sesame Street has been a part of growing and learning for children around the world since its creation in 1969. New and old characters from Sesame Street have been teaching Indianapolis kids the alphabet, numbers and important morals for decades. Its even taken to the road with tours of Sesame Street Live, that bring all the favorite characters to life right before your eyes. Sesame Street Live hits Indianapolis theatre at the Old National Theatre (formerly Murat) with Elmo’s Green Thumb Thursday, April 22 through Sunday, April 25. Treat your kids to a very special Indianapolis event in Indianapolis downtown near Mass Ave.

Elmo and his sunflower friend, Sunny, have been enjoying the beautiful Spring weather. As Elmo has watched Sunny grow from just a little seedling to a big, bright and beautiful sunflower, he has cared for his floral friend in a tiny little flower pot. But now, Sunny has outgrown his home, and needs to find a new place to live. Elmo knows he can bring Sunny to Big Bird’s garden, but the dynamic duo are just too excited to wait. Rather than let nature take its course, Abby Cadabby, Sesame Street’s resident fairy in-training, cast a spell on Sunny to make him grow.

But catastrophe strikes when Abby Cadabby mixes up her incantations, instead making Elmo and all of his friends shrink. While Abby searches for the right way to reverse her mistake, Elmo, Zoe, Telly and other Sesame Street characters explore Big Bird’s garden from their new perspective. Along the way, they learn some big lessons about patience, overcoming fear and appreciating and caring for the ecosystem.

Their adventure introduces them to a host of new friends including dancing ladybugs, beautiful butterflies and grouchy beetles who scavenge the garden floor. Find out if being small can help Elmo, Sunny and friends grow tall in Sesame Street Live and Elmo’s Green Thumb. Like the popular PBS children’s show, Sesame Street Live contains timeless lesson for every age.

With a universal appeal, Elmo’s Green Thumb offers a Broadway quality production, with lessons that continue long after preschool. Adults will appreciate theatre magic, a cleverly written script and the chance to share something special with their children. Everyone will leave humming toe-tapping tunes like “Ladybug Picnic,” “Inch by Inch” and “I Love Trash.”
