Lauren Cregor’s music has been featured on stage, screen and even the Internet. As a composer and singer, she has been featured in theatres, film and is available for purchase on iTunes. With a strong voice and amazing stage presence, the best way to experience Lauren Cregor is in person. Her swinging vocal quality feels at once melancholy and inspirational, drawing influence from her favorite musical theatre productions and characters. In addition to her work as a singer and performer, Lauren Cregor is also the composer and musical director for the acclaimed off Broadway company, Waterwell. This small but strong New York based theatre company has been nominated for multiple Drama Desk and IT Awards, for each of its nine originally produced pieces in New York. The New York Times called Waterwell’s work, “Brilliant, original and inspired.” Waterwell is now working on piece that will be seen at Indiana University. The performance, planned for Spring 2010 in Bloomington, Indiana, is funded by the Eli Lilly Endowment.
After Waterwell’s work in Indiana concludes, Lauren Cregor has been invited to work with BMI’s esteemed Musical Theatre Workshop, which is responsible for hits like Avenue Q, A Chorus Line and Next to Normal. Her original music compositions for film have been screened around the world, including BFM International Festival in London. As a singer songwriter, she has released two albums and is working on a third with her band. In addition, she has had the pleasure and honor of composing original music for New York’s SYREN Modern Dance.
Cregor attended Indiana University, where she earned a BA in Theatre at one of Indiana’s largest colleges or universities. She then went on to earn a post-graduate degree at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After that, she attended New York University, where she received and MA in Composition.
