Mutt Strut: Dogs on the Brickyard

In addition to hosting one of the most anticipated events in Indianapolis sports all year, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway opens its doors for a number of Indianapolis community events. This Sunday, April 25, 2010, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway teams up with the Humane Society of Indianapolis for Mutt Strut, a fundraiser for the Humane Society. This Indianapolis event is for all animal lovers across the United States. Join in this wonderful event for an Indianapolis charity and be part of “the day the track goes to the dogs.”

Now in its seventh year, the annual Mutt Strut raises funds for the support of animal shelters across Indiana. The money to help care for these orphaned animals in need puts them on the path to loving lifetime homes. As Indiana’s largest pet walk, the Mutt Strut clocks in at two and a half miles, with or without a pet, around the famous oval at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This family friendly event welcomes Indianapolis kids to bring their best friends to the track for a walk of a special kind.

Admission is a minimum $25.00 pre-registration donation fee for ages sixteen and older. Kids age seven to fifteen can get in for a minimum donation of $15.00 and children under seven will be admitted for free, but will not receive a t-shirt. T-shirts will be handed out on site to registered participants while supplies last. Registration begins at 11:00 am and goes until 2:15 pm.

The Mutt Strut officially kicks off at 11:15 am, with the waving of the green flag. The green flag ceremony will be attended by the Mutt Strutt’s three co-Grand Marshalls: Pam Boas of the Tony Stewart Foundation and Tony’s mother, Tony Hoard and his Australian Shepherd Rockin’ Rory, a disc dog champion and semifinalist on America’s Got Talent, and Brian Wilkes the Chief Meteorologist for Fox 59 News.

In addition to the main event activity, your and your mutt can strutt around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, visiting with other pets, vendors and experts ready to share all the latest information in pet care. Stop by the HSI Re-Tail Store to get your pet micro chipped, and never worry again about them getting lost. You can also get a caricature of you and your buddy done by up and coming Indianapolis artists from the Herron School of Art and Design. Plus, animal communicator Sharon Gross will be on hand to help you make a psychic connection with your pet. Each activity is available with a $20.00 donation to the Humane Society, or get both for a special rate of $30.00.

Don’t miss this exciting Indianapolis event. Head to Mutt Strut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday, April 25, 2010. Mutt Strutt will happen rain or shine, so be sure to dress accordingly.
