Romancing the Page: Drawings on Paper at Stutz Art Space

Drawing in pen, pencil, crayon or marker is one of the first activities we learn to do as children. Every professional artist who has created beautiful works on canvas or even mixed media sculptures got their start when someone placed a blank sheet of paper in front of them and a writing utensil of some kind in their hand, inviting them to simply draw. Stutz Art Space celebrates drawing in the Indianapolis art exhibit Romancing the Page: Drawings on Paper, a showcase of drawings from Indianapolis artists. Open now through May 28, this Indianapolis art gallery welcomes visitors to their exhibit from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm weekdays.

Though many people think of drawings as preliminary sketches to greater forms of art, or something that is only for Indianapolis kids, it can be one of the most challenging and rewarding forms of art. Nothing but a blank page and a well trained imagination act as a catalyst for great art. Eleven Indianapolis based artists share their drawings in the Stutz Art Space. Done with pencil, brush, pastel and ink these drawings strip away the layers of technique and tricks that often permeate art work, leaving nothing but the artist and their image.

With support from the Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association (IDADA), this Indianapolis art exhibit at the Stutz Art Space runs through May 28. Participating artists include Carol L. Myers, Jerry Points, Karen Mausbaum, Susan Brewer, Susan Mauck, Julia Z. Wickes, Judith L. Sturges, Martha Vaught, Janett Marie, Michelle Soncini and Julie Perigo.

Admission to this Indianapolis event is FREE to all Indianapolis people. The Stutz Art Space Gallery is open Wednesday through Friday during regular hours and by appointment. Don’t miss this simplistic and beautiful Indianapolis art event.
