Maxwell and Jill Scott: The Tour combines the talents of two singer songwriters in who have taken American soul by storm. Gerald Maxwell Rivera, known more commonly as just Maxwell, began his illustrious music career in the early 1990s with his debut album Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite. With the number one single “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)”, his first album when double platinum and earned him his first Grammy Award nomination. Since then Maxwell has enjoyed steady success in the music industry.
His second studio album release, Embrya, contained the noted single “Fortunate,” which was written by R. Kelly and appeared on the soundtrack for the 1999 film Life starring Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy. The single peaked at number one on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart. His third album, Now, was released in 2001 and offered the hit singles “Lifetime” and “Woman’s Work” written by Kate Bush.
His most recent album, released in 2009, is called BLACKsummers’night and earned him six Grammy nominations in 2010. His career has elicited countless accolades and awards including Grammy Awards, Image Awards, Soul Train Awards and more. She made her stage debut with The Roots after being discovered by their drummer Amir Thompson.

She has released five albums and has been nominated and won countless awards.
