Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn are Brooks and Dunn. A match made in country music heaven, these talented artists had already cut solo career paths for themselves when they were introduced in 1990 by Arista Records’ Tim DuBois. They are the most successful duo from any genre, having sold more albums than all others in the Neilsen/ Soundscan era. The pair made their debut in 1991, smashing the Billboard country music charts with four number one single off of their first album alone.
Brand New Man shot them into stardom like no other. In the year it was released their flagship recording was certified for six time platinum by the RIAA. With more than fifty singles on the country music charts in their career together, twenty of which reached number one, they will no doubt go down in music history as legends in their own right. Together, Brooks and Dunn released ten studio albums, three greatest hits compilations and a Christmas album.
Perhaps the most impressive part of their mythical status is the stack of awards the duo share. Brooks and Dunn won the Country Music Association’s Vocal Duo of the Year award every year between 1992 and 2006, except for in 2000 when Montgomery Gentry took the honor. In addition, 1996 saw them walk away from the same award ceremony with the Entertainer of the Year award. On top of that, two of their hit singles, “My Maria” (1996) and “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” (2001), garnered the distinction of being Billboard magazine’s Number One country singles of the year. They have taken home trophies from practically every prestigious music award organization including the Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association, the American Music Awards, Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, CMT Flameworthy Video Music Awards and TNN/ Music City News Awards.
