Youth Present Alice in Wonderland Jr.

Alice in Wonderland is a memorable part of anybody’s childhood. Whether reading Lewis Carroll’s kids novel, watching the Disney animated movie or enjoying the more contemporary live action version of the story, Alice in Wonderland is a fantasy adventure that is continually being reinvented. The Buck Creek Players Theatre youth productions add to this fabric with their presentation of Alice in Wonderland Jr. to Indianapolis theatre opening this weekend. Take the journey down the rabbit hole with Alice as she meets all the crazy characters of this imaginary world form the Cheshire Cat to the Caterpillar to the Queen of Hearts. Tickets to this Indianapolis performing arts event are $14.00 for adults and $12.00 for Indianapolis kids and seniors. The show runs July 30 to August 8 with performances Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm.

Join Alice (Paige Noel Brown, Madison Smith, Olivia Smith) and the gang for a madcap adventure through Wonderland. As one distracted little girl sits in her garden, she catches a glimpse of a clothed White Rabbit (Emily Urbanski) scurrying by fixated on his watch. When she decides to follow him down his rabbit hole, she suddenly falls into a curious hall with many locked doors of all sizes. From there, the mystery begins. With bottles labeled “DRINK ME” and cakes labeled “EAT ME,” Alice enters a who new world of ridiculous proportions.

Amazed by the disappearing Cheshire Cat (Kelsie Clayton, Ariel Urban and Ruthie Weller Passman), influenced by advice from the bubble blowing Caterpillar (Emily Weber) and crazed by the March Hare (Kara Porzuczek) and the Mad Hatter (Matthew Conwell), Alice has experiences like she never imagined. She races the Dodo Bird (Kaitlin Rutherford); gets tied up with Tweedle Dee (Lauren Raker) and Tweedle Dum (Delaney Mullins).

But when this spunky little girl dressed all in blue encounters the Queen of Hearts (Eileen Porzuzczek), the fickle lady in red mutters “Off with her head.” Alice then becomes a key witness in the Queen’s trial against the Knave of Hearts, accused of stealing the Queen’s tarts. With a jury of various animals, the court room circus begins. But when Alice begins to grow back to normal size, she is in for another wild ride. Will she escape the Queen’s wrath to return to her pleasant garden?
