As summer hits the Circle City with the hottest wave of steamy temps yet, why not cool down with a nice frosty brew (or three) at the Broad Ripple Block Party? This eagerly anticipated Indianapolis event promises to be the party of the season, and the best part is you can get your groove on and help Indianapolis children fighting life-threatening conditions at the same time. All proceeds from the Broad Ripple Block Party will benefit Friends of Riley, an Indianapolis nonprofit dedicated to supporting Riley Children’s Hospital.
The fun is set to take place on Saturday, August 14, in the heart of the trendy Broad Ripple Village. This second annual iteration of summer’s biggest bash will commence at 8:00 p.m., and the party will rock on until midnight or later. You can buy tickets in advance from the official Website, or it’s just $10 at the door (cash only if you buy tickets upon entry).
Your $10 entry fee to the Broad Ripple Block Party will get you far: enjoy the swinging tunes spun by favorite Indianapolis DJ Indiana Jones, and don’t miss the highlight of the evening, a performance by Hairbangers Ball, who never fails to delight Indianapolis music lovers with their energetic 80s hits. The band will be stationed off of Broad Ripple Avenue facing North, and parts of Westfield and Guilford will be blocked off for the occasion.
If you arrive a bit early for the Broad Ripple Block Party, there’s plenty to do while you wait for the fun to begin. Lining the streets of Broad Ripple are some of the best shops in Indianapolis, especially if you’re looking for unique finds for the whole family. Make sure to stop by The Village Experience, a trendy boutique located right along College Avenue. You’ll not only find one-of-a-kind crafts made by women from third-world countries, you’ll be contributing to a great cause as well—the proceeds go directly back into the struggling overseas economies.
And if you want to fill your belly with some satisfying fare before you enjoy the beverages at Broad Ripple Block Party, there are a plethora of delicious Indianapolis restaurants ready to cater to your taste buds. In the mood for pizza? Give the unique creations at Bazbeaux a try. Or if you’re in more of a steak mood, head to the patio at Binkley’s for great people-watching and delicious entrees. If you’re just grabbing something quick, the spicy Jumbalaya at Yatz is the way to go.
The Broad Ripple Block Party is for ages 21 and up. For more information, visit the Broad Ripple Block Party Website. And make sure to stay tuned to FunCityFinder.com to be the first to find out about new Indianapolis news, events, and information!
