Foodies unite at the Indiana State Fairgrounds this weekend for the Indiana Artisan Marketplace. This Indianapolis festival celebrates the local goodies available to Hoosiers across the Circle City. Taste the best of the best that Indiana has to offer. Whether its peppermint marshmallows, hot pepper jam or simply organic homemade honey, the Indiana Artisan Marketplace will take your tongue on a one of a kind adventure through Midwestern munchies. Check it out at the Indiana State Fairgrounds April 15 to 17 all day.
This statewide farmers market will showcase the best of the best of Indiana. Indiana’s departments of tourism development, community, agriculture and rural affairs are teaming up with the Indiana Arts Commission to shine a light on Indiana’s best food producers, lending a supportive arm to independently run farms and businesses.
In addition to featuring the most delicious delectables in Indiana, the Indiana Artisan Marketplace will also feature local arts and crafts from a variety of artisans. The hope is to help Indianapolis people cultivate long lasting relationships with artisans as the community unites to celebrate their talent and creativity that makes Indianapolis arts so unique.
Established in 2008, Indiana Artisan’s mission is to identify and support the development of Indiana businesses who create “high quality art, craft and value-added food (think salsa, not tomatoes… wine, not grapes).” These artisans include painters, beekeepers, woodworkers, winemakers, jewelry designers, weavers, specialty cheese makers, pastry chefs, syrup and honey makers, specialty candy makers and much more.
This weekend over 150 artisans will travel to Indianapolis to participate in the Indiana Artisan Marketplace. Each artisan or business underwent a juried process to be admitted to the Marketplace, meaning this weekend’s Indianapolis event will represent the cream of Indiana’s crop.
As visitors browse the booths, selecting goodies to purchase and sample, live entertainment and activities will keep attendees busy. Visitors will enjoy literary readings, live art and craft demonstrations, food and drink tastings and more. Do not miss this mouth watering event featuring unique cuisines.
Tickets to this one of a kind event are $8.00 per day with a $3.00 parking fee. Children fifteen and under will be admitted for free. The Indianapolis event takes over the Expo Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, north of Indianapolis downtown. For more information visit the Indiana Artisan website.
