Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Presents The Four Seasons

From the beginning of music, nature has been a source of inspiration for artists. Vivaldi’s muse for his greatest masterpiece, The Four Seasons, was in fact the changing for the earth throughout the year. Hear The Four Season’s at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in Indianapolis downtown and celebrate the coming of Spring and Summer. Thursday, May 12 at 11:00 am, Friday, May 13 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 pm the Hilbert Circle Theatre will come to life with the sounds of classical violin music. Tickets for this Indianapolis music event range from $15.00 to $50.00 for Indianapolis people. Be swept away by the naturalistic sounds of Vivaldi’s greatest masterpiece.

Composed in 1723 by Italian classical composer Antonio Vivaldi, The Four Seasons is a set of four violin concertos in the Baroque classical style. Each movement is named for one of the four seasons and reflects the tone and sentiment of each season. Winter, for example, is peppered with silvery pizzicato notes to imitate the sound of icy rain. Summer evokes the feeling of thunderstorms and so on. Vivaldi set the standard for music’s imitation of nature for centuries to come.

No other classical composer has captured the essence of our changing planet as precisely and emotionally as Vivaldi. The exquisite interplay of virtuosic violine solos and lush accompaniments creates a musical sensation that is unmatchable. The piece is, perhaps, one of the most recognizable tunes in classical music having been used on television, in films and even on the Weather Channel.

Lead by concert master and violinist Zach De Pue, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will also feature solos from principal viola Michael Issac Strauss for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. The evening combines meditations on violin and viola from two of the world’s most celebrated composers.
