The Liver Life Walk descends on White River State Park in Indianapolis downtown Saturday, May 14 at 8 AM. Join droves of Indianapolis people as they “Walk for Fun… Walk for Life.” That is the motto of the American Liver Foundation’s national fundraising event the Liver Life Walk. This Saturday, nearly 20,000 people across the United States will join together to raise money and awareness for the fight against liver disease. This easy going walk in the heart of downtown on the Indianapolis canal walk offers picturesque scenery for a beautiful day dedicated to a great cause.
The American Liver Foundation is on a mission to “facilitate, advocate and promote education, support and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.” This not for profit organization has a home in Indianapolis, allowing it to reach out to Hoosiers this weekend in their quest to get the word out about the dangers of liver disease. Since 1979, the American Liver Foundation has granted more than $20.1 million to more than 650 qualified scientists and physicians looking for better treatments and a cure for liver disease.
As one of the ten major causes of death in the United States, liver disease presents a real problem for Americans. The American Liver Foundation provides a variety of services to the general public to combat this deadly problem. Programs include preventative screenings, vital vaccinations education, community events, educational seminars, a toll free information line at 1.800.Go.Liver and online information.
