The smash television hit Glee jumps beyond the boob tube with a live concert tour across the United States. See Glee: Live in Concert Thursday, June 2 at 7:30 pm at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis downtown. This Indianapolis music event features all of your favorites from the TV show including Lea Michele (Rachel), Cory Monteith (Finn), Chris Colfer (Kurt) and more. Don’t miss the singing and dancing sensation as it criss-crosses North America sharing fan favorite numbers from Seasons One and Two.
After blockbuster rating during a post Super Bowl episode, Twentieth Century Fox and Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy could not deny fans another tour of “Glee Live! In Concert.” The performance will star thirteen members of the show’s cast, who will bring joy to Gleeks across the nation. The tour kicked off May 21 at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The performance includes numbers from both seasons including “Empire State of Mind,” “Toxic,” “My Life Would Suck Without You,” “It’s My Life” and of course the show’s anthem “Don’t Stop Believin.” USA Today described last year’s concert tour as “equal parts musical theatre, giddy pop culture phenomenon and Journey loving rock show.”
Glee premiered in May of 2009. Just two short years later, the show has become one of the largest pieces of current pop culture in America. With a mix of top forty pop songs and classic rock songs intermingled with quirky teen comedy, the show’s recipe for success stems from its broad reach across the population.
Beyond its commercial success, Glee has garnered critical acclaim as well. It’s first season was nominated for nineteen Emmy Awards, four Golden Globes and six Satellite Awards. In 2010 and 2011 it took home the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. In addition, both Jane Lynch (cheer leading coach Sue Sylvester) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) won Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor.
“The cast and I,” said Ryan Murphy, “were so moved by the love and enthusiasm of our fans at last year’s concerts that we knew we had to do it again. There is something magical about thousands of ‘Gleeks’ coming together to share a special night with our cast, and this tour is one way we can thank them for their unbelievable support from the beginning.”
This incredible television revolution connects with fans on a whole different level. Whether outcast or prom queen, Glee is able to reach past the boundaries created in high school social lines. Empowering all teens to be themselves, Glee sends a positive message wrapped neatly in song and dance. Many “Gleeks” finally feel free to express themselves in whatever medium they choose. Whether joining the actual Glee club, trying out for the school play or going for the extra goal in team sports, Glee teaches students to be independent and open minded.
