The exemplary women singled out to receive the Touchstone Awards are among the most notable people in Indianapolis today. The 2011 Touchstone Awards are presented by Girls Inc, and everyone attending the awards will automatically be lending their significant support to girls living in Indy whose lives this organization and the honorees have impacted.
Over 100,000 girls live in Indianapolis and its suburbs. It is estimated that 60% of them are fighting issues around body image, societal pressure, bullying and self-confidence in general. Girls Inc. works to help Greater Indianapolis girls to find their way in an ever more complex universe and develop into the strong, happy and fulfilled adults they are, by rights, destined to be.
The good people who support Girls Inc. also support the rest of the community and other cities in Indiana, as the lucky kids who are touched by their programs take their places in the world and perpetuate the important Girls Inc. lessons they learned at a young age. This charitable organization works with the scions of Indianapolis society and Indianapolis business to achieve their lofty goal of helping to create girls who are strong, smart, bold and inspired.
