The Ronald McDonald House of Indiana helps families in times of crisis. When children are unexpected afflicted with illness the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana is there to support them. Do your part to support the noble work of this Indianapolis not for profit organization. Join the Run for Ronald at the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis downtown to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana. This Indianapolis event combines charity with a 5K Fun Run and Walk starting at 8:30 am on Saturday, June 18. Pre-registration will be held Friday June 17 outside of the NCAA National Office Entrance from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Founded in 1982, the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana has two locations at the corner of Michigan Street and Limestone Street and inside the Riley Hospital for Children. Nestled on the IUPUI campus, the organization offers families a place to stay in close proximity to the nearby hospitals, when children are afflicted with illness. The facilities offer parents and children a facsimile of comfort and “home” with living and dining areas, a double sided fireplace, a quiet den, a kitchen and fully stocked pantry, laundry, showers and beds. The Ronald McDonald House of Indiana and the “House at Riley” keep parents close to their critically injured or ill children in a time when no child should have to be alone.
For nearly three decades, the Ronald McDonald House has promoted the idea that “no family should ever have to worry about the cost of being at their child’s side, especially when they are ill.” It costs the House $76 per night to provide such immediate lodging for families, but the organization only requests $15 per night. And no family is ever turned away because of an inability to pay. This home away from home helps set the minds of both parents and children at ease, albeit in a small way, during some of the most stressful experiences of their lives.
While McDonald’s is a significant corporate donor to the House, which has been the restaurant chain’s “charity of choice” since 1974, the Ronald McDonald House is in fact a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization. This means your donations count! Do your part to help families in times of crisis by joining the Run for Ronald 5K Fun Run and Walk at the White River State Park and NCAA Hall of Champions this Saturday, June 18.
