Little Red Door Cancer Agency Asks Indy to Unite to Fight

The Little Red Door Cancer Agency is truly doing its part to help Hoosiers fight cancer. For instance, they are letting Indianapolis people know that 65% of all cancer deaths can be prevented with simple lifestyle choices. This amazing Indianapolis not for profit organization is taking their mission to fight cancer in Central Indiana to the next level this weekend. Saturday, July 9, the Little Red Door Cancer Agency sponsors Unite to Fight: Get Moving 2 Beat Cancer, a free Indianapolis festival on the American Legion Mall. Join them for a day of family fun in Indianapolis downtown, and learn how you can help prevent cancer and support cancer patients.

The Little Red Door Cancer Agency knows that fighting cancer is tough enough. Add to that the stress of no medical insurance and few resources, and the financial aspect of the fight is enough of reason for many to simply give up. Because of this, the Little Red Door Cancer Agency works “to make the most of life and the least of cancer, by reducing the physical, emotional and financial burdens of cancer for the medically under-served residents of Central Indiana.”
In their daily operations, this Indianapolis organization provides a host of free supplies to cancer patients including nutritional supplements, medical supplies, wigs and turbans, breast prosthesis and bras, transportation to chemotherapy and radiation treatment, cancer screenings, clinical exams, ostomy supplies, incontinence supplies,  lymphedema supplies and more. The Little Red Door Cancer Agency works to help patients and their families navigate this troublesome time in their lives.

More than helping Hoosiers already afflicted with cancer, this organization has its sights set on cancer prevention as well. Unite 2 Fight: Get Moving 2 Beat Cancer is a free Indianapolis event held on the American Legion Mall, south of the Central Library in downtown Indianapolis. The event includes a family walk along the Cultural Trail and the Indianapolis Canal Walk, as well as other events and activities in the Indianapolis park. Attendees will enjoy Radio Disney performances, paddle boats and kayak rides along the canal, cooking demonstrations and more.
Try your foot at Zumba, step, yoga and polo demonstrations. Join in a scavenger hunt sponsored by Radio Disney with awesome prizes like an Indianapolis Colts football autographed by Austin Collie. Or just get moving in general for a day of fun. Though this event is completely FREE, the Little Red Door will be raising money in a variety of ways. Donate $5.00 to Little Red Door for a 15 minute paddle boat or kayak ride along the canal. Buy tickets to a raffle with prizes including a 14K diamond necklace and a troll bead bracelet. Plus, purchase your Unite 2 Fight t-shirt for $25, with all proceeds going to Little Red Door.

Food vendors will be on hand with FREE healthy food samples and bottles of water. But bring cash for other food trucks that will be onsite selling healthy food. Don’t miss this exciting Indianapolis community event in the heart of downtown. After the festival, cool off with dinner and drinks from any of these Indianapolis restaurants or Indianapolis bars. Stay tuned to for all the latest on fun things to do in Indianapolis. We cover Indianapolis arts to Indianapolis sports and everything in between. Get out in Indy and find some fun!
