There are lots of free and nearly-free things to do in Indianapolis. Many of the Indianapolis events and gatherings listed below will cost you no more than the will to leave your home and the gas money to get there. Likewise, there’s a multitude of things to do in and around Indy that are especially family-friendly.

|“Mary Lincoln” – A Civil War Lecture at the historic General Lew Wallace Museum in nearby Crawfordsville, Indiana, this unique, free happening might make for an interesting day trip from Indianapolis too.

|Fortville Bastille Day – Little bitty Fortville is known for its charm, and this event combines that quality with a historic flair some Midwest cities, like this one, have in abundance. This is a unique event with a focus on the Francophile, and a night laser show.
