Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis downtown is a treasure trove of notable Indianapolis people. This Indianapolis attraction is the final resting place for Jefferson Davis, Benjamin Harrison, James Whitcomb Riley, Booth Tarkington and more. Crown Hill Cemetery hosts a walking tour titled Dillinger and other Eastside Notables on Saturday, July 23 at 7:30 pm with a focus on  Indianapolis history. The cost of this Indianapolis event is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for students. Reservations are not required.
This incredible walking tour includes sections just north of the Waiting Station, a part of the cemetery not usually included in Crown Hills regular tours. The primary destination of this tour is, of course, the grave site of infamous bank robber John Dillinger, who rose to fame in the 1930s. Today he is known as one of the most notorious criminals ever. Pursued by J. Edgar Hoover, Dillinger and his gang were the impetus for the launch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After eluding police for years, Dillinger was finally caught and shot to death outside the Biograph Theater in Chicago. He was only 31 years old.

See his historic grave site, which has been replaced several times due to vandalism. Many visitors have chipped off pieces to take home as souvenirs. This, of course, if frowned upon by Crown Hill Cemetery. In addition, this walking tour takes visitors to the grave sites of other historic and important people laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery. Conclude the tour with a view of the sunset from the top of the Crown at James Whitcomb Riley’s gravesite.
Meet at the cemetery inside the 34th Street and Boulevard Place stone gate. Attendees are encouraged to bring a bottle of water and bug spray. Tours will be held rain or shine, unless weather is extremely severe. Tours are subject to change without notice. Call to confirm that this Indianapolis event is being held before attending.

Before the tour, enjoy the sights and sounds of the nearby Indianapolis cultural district, Broad Ripple Village. Fuel up with dinner from any of these Indianapolis restaurants. After the tour, head back to Broad Ripple to swap ghost stories over drinks at any of these Indianapolis bars. Stay tuned to FunCityFinder.com for all the latest on fun things to do in Indianapolis.
