If you’re in Indianapolis, then you’re in luck. Your Indy summer can be overflowing with memorable things to do in Indianapolis this long weekend, from the black tie Living Legends Gala at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center to the 18th running of the mega-famous Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and all the little fairs, festivals and frolics in between.

Living Legends Gala – Offered by the Indiana Historical Society, keeper of the sweeping Indianapolis history and diverse culture of Indiana, this annual event in Indianapolis is a black-tie affair honoring selected legendary people from Indianapolis.

Whiteland Warrior Golf Outing – For the benefit of their athletic department, Valle Vista Country Club in Greenwood, Indiana presents this friendly summer golf competition with dinner and awards.

Bikers for HVAF Freedom Ride – The third annual biker rally on behalf of United Way’s HVAF of Indiana is a 90-minute ride culminating in the lively HVAF Summer Festival.

Brown County 4-H Fair – Pretty Indianapolis people contests and pies are just a few attractions at this fair, also featuring the Fire Fighter Olympics and a Demolition Derby on Friday.

Brickyard 400 – This is one of the biggest NASCAR races in the world, along with the Indianapolis 500-mile race in May. Both Indianapolis sporting events draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the suburb of Speedway, Indiana every year. It’s 160 laps of pure speed, bookended by other related festivities, starting on July 28, 2011.

Marion County Fair – Among the great fairs and festivals in Indianapolis, this one is an Indy Hoosier favorite. Held in the southeast corner of Indianapolis and jam-packed with festival-type fun.

Morgan County 4-H Fair – Only about 20 miles southwest of Indy, this summer fair occurs on the north edge of the Morgan-Monroe State Forest.

A Conner Prairie Summer – Conner Prairie offers tons of fun this summer, including their renowned Symphony on the Prairie and everybody’s favorite, their hot-air balloon voyages.

Quilt Gardens Tour – All summer long, you can take your family on a day trip from Indianapolis they will never forget. Amish County is about 200 miles north of Naptown, and has more than 20 floral “quilt gardens” on display for anyone who wants to see them.
