Businessman, philanthropist, art patron and author. What doesn’t Frank Basile do? As one of the most upstanding citizens in Indianapolis, Basile’s name is splattered throughout Indiana on Indianapolis art galleries and Indianapolis theaters. As the former Senior Vice President of the Gene B. Glick Company, an accomplished public speaker and contributor to the Indianapolis Business Journal, Basile has his plate full. The release of his new book, Traveling with Frank and Katrina, is simply the cherry to top his endless list of triumphs. Meet Frank Basile in person at the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library for his Book Signing on Friday, August 12 from 6 to 8 pm. The proceeds from the sale of his book at this FREE Indianapolis event will benefit the Kurt Vonnegut Library. The book costs $10.
Basile is a graduate of Tulane University’s School of Business Administration, where he was both the student body president and the class valedictorian. He has been listed in Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in Real Estate, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry and Who’s Who in Sales and Marketing. In addition, Basile currently sits on the board for WFYI public television and radio, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indiana Historical Society, All Souls Unitarian Church, the Eiteljorg Museum, the Center for the Performing Arts and the Arts Council of Indianapolis. He also chairsof the Dean’s Advisory Board of the Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI.
In addition, he writes a regular column for the Indianapolis Business Journal called “The Traveling Life.” His recent publication is based on his experiences for the column as he travles the world with his wife Katrina. The couple are known for not taking the road most traveled. Instead, they discover the furthest reaches of the world. In their travels to 174 countries on all seven continents, Frank and Katrina have seen Bhutan, Bosnia, Antarctica, Greenland, Serbia, Syria and more.
In his book, Basile reveals these regions in a way that typical guide books don’t. He and Katrina encounter each new destination with a twist. Whether its a wedding trip to Las Vegas, introducing Katrina to relatives in the Big Easy or simply approaching their Hoosier homeland with a tourist’s eye, the Basiles share their exciting adventures through the lens of reality.
