Jingle Rails: Great Western Adventure – Take a trip through the State and Federal parks of the West. This amazing model train exhibit features several running trains, hot air balloons and dozens of scenes made entirely from natural materials. Eiteljorg Fellowship for Native American Fine Art – Every two years, the Eiteljorg Museum hosts an exhibit of modern art made by Native American artists. These controversial and mind-expanding exhibits take you inside the modern Native experience in beautiful and enlivening ways. This biannual Indianapolis art exhibit is a highly anticipated Indianapolis culture event.
Community Drumming Circle – Find the rhythm of your own heart at a Community Drumming Circle every Saturday afternoon at the Eiteljorg Museum. Join Navajo drumming expert Tony Showa in a holistic approach to stress relief. Bring your own drum or borrow one to participate in this enlightening group activity. Cut through the stress in your life with a hearty drum beat.
FREE Admission on Martin Luther King Jr. Day – The Eiteljorg Museum opens its doors to Indianapolis people for free in honor of the great hero of the Civil Right Movement. Celebrate Dr. King’s birthday by learning about Native American history and the development of the Old West. Bring the whole family to experience the Indianapolis art galleries and fun activities at the Eiteljorg Museum.
Josefina Day – American Girl Doll lovers will delight in a fun filled day of activities for you and your doll. This day is all about Josefina, the Mexican-American girl doll. Make accessories and other crafts for your doll including a punched-tin ornament. Play games including loteria (a traditional Mexican game similar to Bingo). Antique Arms Collectors Show – This one day only Indianapolis events features the collections of members of the Indiana Antique Arms Collectors Association. The show will focus on pre-1898 weapons and accessories used on the American frontier and in the Civil War. Each week brings a new lesson including Animals in the West, Cowgirls and Cowboys, Circle of the Seasons, Arctic Adventure, Desert Drumming, Woodland Wonders, Color Palettes, Clay Creation and Recycled Art. Sign up for any or all of three sessions, which include three classes in one month. Spend time with your little one learning about art.
