Brugge Brasserie offers delectable Belgian food and drink in the heart of the Indianapolis cultural district, Broad Ripple Village. Tucked away on the corner of Westfield Boulevard, this Indianapolis restaurant and Indiana brewery offer delicious crepes, mussels, frites and most importantly beers. Though their brewing headquarters are located in Terre Haute, Indiana, the Brugge Brasserie is the premiere place to find Brugge beer on tap. With unique Belgian creations for food and drink, Brugge offers Indianapolis people a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Head to this Indianapolis bar and restaurant for a European feast complete with delectable, fresh, local beers.
The classic Brugge offering is a two pound bucket of Prince Edward Island mussels that come served with a giant cone of pomme frites and warm french bread. Try them in a variety of preparations including Cajun, Red Curry, Citron, classic, Provencal, Jamaican and more. If you’re not down with seafood, enjoy a giant sandwich or a variety of sweet or savory crepes.
Also available are a selection of stews and salads that will satisfy any taste you have. The Carbonnade Flamande is a hearty Belgian stew made with dark beer, beef and onion. Or opt for the Belgian Endive Salad for a lighter option. A salad of endive, micro-greens, blue cheese and spiced walnuts with raspberry lambic and dried cherry vinaigrette. Of course there are always crepes to satisfy you including the simple roasted ham with Swiss or the more complex grilled chicken with blue cheese, endive, spinach and garlic aioli. Or choose something simply sweet like the Nutella crepe.
Brugge has made their name on their famous Tripel de Ripple. This sweet Belgian tripel is best served in a goblet. It has a nice golden color with a good white head and plenty of lacing. With notes of pear and green apple, the tripel has an incredibly high alcohol content, causing the restaurant to limit patrons to two per visit.
In addition Brugge serves a Belgian Blonde. This opaque wheat beer has a strong lemon flavor, that refreshes the thirsty beer geek in the heat of Summer. Their Harvey is a sour and refreshing blackberry brew. The Cloutier’s Farmhouse Ale is a tart farmhouse ale brewed with yeast related to northern French red wine yeast. Their Belgian black ale has a strong malty taste with chocolate undertones.
With more than twenty beers in rotation, Brugge always offers something different every time you visit. Unfortunately, the best way to taste their brews on tap is by visit their Indianapolis restaurant or finding a bottle in your local liquor store. This brewery hasn’t made it into the mainstream bar scene yet.
Check out this north Indianapolis restaurant to sample all of the great Belgian brews. Paired with delicious food, you can’t beat the experience you’ll get at Brugge.
