Bill Burr is hilarious. There’s really no simpler way to put it. And he will be performing live at the Egyptian Room in the Old National Centre on Friday, March 22.
In his latest act, “You People Are All the Same,” he discusses the politics of gun ownership and buying a gun, arguing with women, owning a pit bull, domestic relationships and Schwarzenegger, among other topics.
For anyone not familiar with Burr, he is one of those comedians who has a slight dark edge, yet delivers his performance with a kind of comedic flare that produces real, gut-felt laughs, whether he’s talking about crazy girlfriends, his less-than ideal parents or recent events. He is critical of others but can be self-depreciating at times, and is very self-aware.
So Who is this Guy?
He is the son of a dentist, originally from the Boston area, who began stand-up at age 23 while majoring in Radio at Emerson College. He moved to New York briefly in 1995, and then moved to Loss Angeles eight months later, where he worked on a number of film and television projects.
He performs hundreds of shows each year, and has appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, Chappelle’s Show and HBO One Night Stand, and the Opie and Anthony Show on XM Satellite Radio.
He most recently appeared in two episodes of AMC’s Breaking Bad. Bill Burr is right up there with the best stand-up comedians in the business, and is one of the best of his generation.
Since 2007, he has recorded a weekly one-hour podcast from his home in which he rants off-the-cuff about present and past experiences. His girlfriend Nia Hill sometimes joins him when she happens to also be at his home.
