Saddle up, partner! Because the Hoosier Horse Fair & Expo will make its historic 35th appearance at the Indiana State Fairgrounds April 5-7, 2013.
This 3-day show is the largest horse-related event in Indiana, and offers a little something for everyone, including horse demonstrations, live entertainment, horse clinics presented by expert clinicians, two pageants, kids’ activities, a ranch rodeo and over 200 vendors.
Breed pageant / stallion row
The most popular event at the Hoosier Horse Fair & Expo is the Breed Pageant and Parade of Stallions, which showcases various breeds and disciplines in a way that is both entertaining and educational. The Breed Pageant and Parade of Stallions is open to all breeds of horses. The winner will be decided by a vote, and will receive an Eclipse Aluminum Trailer.
Several prominent clinicians will accept horses and riders for a series of clinics designed to showcase horses with certain skills, as well as those with specific problems. Other clinicians will work with riders seeking to improve their relationships with their horses. In general, the Horse Fair will offer a good variety of learning opportunities. “Kick Your Fear of Horses”, “Jumping 101: A Different Perspective”, “Basics of Saddle Seat Equitation”, and “Training Your Horse to Use Both Sides” are just a few examples of the dozens of topics that will be covered.
The Expo will offer fun activities for guests of all ages. Free pony rides, face painting, rope-making, as well as equine arts and crafts will all be available in the Kid’s Corral.
Theatrical Equestrian Show
It has been called “an equine… Cirque du Soleil.” Ma’ Ceo is the product of specialized skills, passed down through 8 generations of the Italian Zoppe-Zamperla family. This amazing 90-minute theatrical equestrian show is takes place in a vintage gypsy setting, accompanied by rich acoustic, and features stunning aerial arts, including cossack riding, dressage, daredevil acrobatic bareback riding and Roman Riding. Over 200 vendors will be in attendance, including Bling for Horses, Cowboy Corner, Go Spur 1 Apparel, Horse Saddle Shop, Indiana Jr Rodeo, Mammoth Cave Horse Camp, Pretty Cute Things an Smokin’ Oak to name just a few.
The Hoosier Horse Fair & Expo got its start in 1978. Over 200 volunteers run the show, which allows all proceeds to directly benefit the industry.
