Looking to add something new to your fitness routine? Every Monday and Thursday Jessica Daugherty, a certified Zumba instructor, leads an energetic and exciting Zumba class in the gym at Bishop Chatard High School. What I love about Jess’s class is the mix of ages, fitness levels, and abilities. There really is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for high intensity cardio or more of a low impact workout, this class has got you covered. Zumba is a type of exercise that allows each person to adjust the workout to fit his or her own personal needs.
Infusing Latin inspired steps, hip-hop, aerobics, and kickboxing, the routine adjusts difficulty and cardio levels as the class progresses. By rotating the heart rate level between songs, participants are able to burn the maximum amount of calories. On average participants burn between 800-1000 calories in an hour class. Crazy, right? Your body and mind will thank you after each workout.
The cost is $5 per class or you can save a little by buying a punch card that gives you 5 classes for $20. You can also recruit people to the class and their first time is free. For more information check out jessdzumba.com. Hope to see you there!
