While Central Indiana is no Napa Valley, there nevertheless exists a thriving wine culture, one that appreciates the paring of great wine and food. For anyone who falls into this category, the Vintage Indiana Wine & Food Festival is the place to be.
Now in its 14th year, the Vintage Indiana Wine & Food Festival is a celebration of wine and food that will showcase the talents of 29 vineyards, 12 restaurants and over 30 art vendors. The celebration takes place in downtown Indy this Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 11am – 7pm at Military Park.
Indiana wineries will make 200 award-winning wines available for sampling. And as an added bonus, the first 10,000 guests will receive etched wine glass.
Of course, no wine and food festival is complete without food. Restaurants include Barto’s Banquets and Catering, Bazbeaux Pizza, Cobb’s Cajun Cooking and The Flying Cupcake to name just a few. In fact, some of the top culinary experts in the state will serve up the perfect culinary complement to your wine.
Food and wine sessions with the chefs and winemakers will be offered for anyone with a desire to dig a little deeper into the process. The Wineries of Indiana’s Northeast, for example, will reveal their favorite wine-food parings. The chefs from Clarks Appliance will share their favorite grill recipes. The Hoosier Wine Trail and Indy Wine Trail will offer time-saving tips for easy recipes that will get you out of the kitchen in the hot summer months.
Guests are free to kick back in their own lawn chairs and blankets, as popular Indiana musicians, including Cari Ray, Jennie DeVoe and Josh Gracin, perform live. Kids will have plenty to do in the interactive “KidZone.” And when you’re not busy drinking great wine and eating great food, be sure to take a tour of the various artists’ booths that will be on site.
