Read. Tutor. Mentor. Kickoff at Monument Circle

Hundreds of readers gathered throughout Central Indiana on Thursday, June 6 to help kickoff United Way of Central Indiana’s second annual Read. Tutor. Mentor. Event. The locations included Monument Circle, Fishers YMCA, Boone County Courthouse, Hancock County Courthouse, and the Morgan County Courthouse.

Adults and children sporting a shirt with the word “Read,” “Tutor,” or “Mentor” assembled on the steps of monument circle to read as a chorus Dr. Suess’ beloved book “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”. The event was staged to recruit volunteers for the upcoming school year to become a reader, tutor, or mentor to children. Their goal this year is to recruit 500 volunteers to boost every child’s success in school and in life.

United Way of Central Indiana has many volunteer opportunities for anyone interested in getting involved. For more information on how you can make a difference in a child’s life, visit
