Cookout on the Circle: Summer Food and Fun for a Worthy Cause

cookout-on-the-circleNo summer is complete without at least one cookout. The good news is that there need to get your hands dirty messing with the grill. Crossroads of America Council, together with Marsh Supermarkets, will hold the 22nd annual Cookout on the Circle. As the name implies, the event will take place at Monument Circle on Thursday, June 21st, 2012, from 11:00 am. 1:30 p.m.

Around 4,000 guests attended last year’s event, the proceeds of which help under-privileged scouts experience the fun and adventure of summer camp via the Scouting Workership Fund.

A $7 ticket gets you a bratwurst or grilled chicken sandwich, potato salad, cookies and a drink. Advance tickets can be purchased at a discount at any Marsh retail location. Packages of 5 tickets can be bought for just $30.

Several local Indianapolis media personalities, along with state representatives will be in attendance at the event. Scouting representatives will be available to speak with any adults and children with a desire to learn more about Scouting.

The Boy Scouts of America was founded in over 100 years ago, with the mission to instill knowledge of outdoors skills, such as camping, hiking, first aid, swimming, climbing, and other skills. As scouts earn badges and awards, they in turn, are expected to pass their knowledge and skills on to others in the local Indianapolis community.

By taking part in team oriented activities and solo challenges, Scouts acquire a sense of camaraderie and self-sufficiency.
