Jazz Guitarist Corey Christiansen will hold a CD Release Party Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Jazz Kitchen.
Corey has fast become one of the most recognized and preeminent guitarists in the world. His latest album, “Lone Prairie,” was inspired by the old American, western frontier, with its wide open vistas and vast landscapes. Yet through it all there is a distinctive, modern, jazz aesthetic that’s hard to miss.
He is joined by fellow band mates Zach Lapidus on keyboard, Jeremy Allen on bass and Jason Tiemann on drums.
Expect them to play both standards and originals, including some songs from his latest album, and several from previous albums such as “Awakening,” “Roll With It” and “Outlaw Tractor.”
Corey has played with several jazz legends around the world in years past. His first album, “Awakening,” was released by Mel Bay Records in 2004 and was lauded by critics throughout the jazz community for its musicality and artistry. His second album, “MB3,” stayed at the No. 1 spot for 3 weeks on the North American jazz radio ratings.
He is also an extremely prolific author, having written or co-authored over 70 method books over the past several years, in addition to several articles for major magazines like Downbeat Magazine.
He currently teaches at Utah State University as well as the world renowned Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
