WARMfest should have been called “Ridiculously Hot Fest.” With the heat index soaring into the 100’s, staying outside at the festival became pretty hard to bear. Some left despite the high price they paid for tickets, while others stuck it out and bought water bottles from vendors to stay hydrated. Storms also put a damper on WARMfest Saturday evening, as organizers ordered an evacuation at 4:30 pm and finally shut it down at 7:15 pm. Several of the bands on that evening’s line-up did not get to perform and no refunds were issued.
With 5 different stages featuring artists from near and far, a swarm of booths selling unique vintage items and art, and at least a dozen food trucks, there was definitely enough to keep people entertained. Despite all their was to do, the festival seemed to fall short on attendance. With one year under their belt, however, I expect the organizers will make some improvements and better preparations for next year.
