Yesterday, hundreds of community members and Colts fans gathered on monument circle to celebrate the kickoff of United Way of Central Indiana’s campaign and the Colts football season.
It felt like one giant party with Dave and Rae providing the live music, Applebee’s offering $5 boxed lunches (proceeds benefited United Way of Central Indiana), free Blue Bell Ice Cream handouts, and many interactive Colts experiences.
With United Way partner agencies lining the circle, it was easy to find out more about volunteer opportunities in the community. Many Colts fans also snagged limited edition Colts kickoff posters, received autographs from Colts Alumni players, and visited with Colts Cheerleaders and Blue. There was even a chance for fans to win Colts tickets!
As the celebration continued, United Way of Central Indiana’s President, Ann Murtlow, and Campaign Chair, Andy Mohr, presented several awards to local companies. Those with the most ReadUP volunteers received the Top ReadUP Volunteer Company Award and companies that ran their campaign early won the Distinguished Pacesetter Award. The presentation concluded with United Way of Central Indiana’s new campaign announcement to raise $42,500,000.
