Six years after debuting at The Helix in Dublin, Ireland, Irish singing group Celtic Thunder is still going strong. Accompanied by the Celtic Thunder Band, they will perform at the Palladium in Carmel’s Center for the Performing Arts Friday, October 11.
The six-piece vocal ensemble is known for its dramatic shows, which feature dazzling lighting effects and expressive choreography, all on a stage set that calls to mind the ancient stone pathways of Celtic lore.
Backed by an 8-piece band of talented Celtic-style musicians, Celtic Thunder vocalists tell the story of ancestral Ireland and its mythology. Their performances can be eclectic, with a group focus at times, and solo performances at other times.
They were named Billboard’s Top World Album Artist in December 2009. They have performed for President Obama and Michelle Obama at the White House, and even opened for the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City.
The group has been quite prolific over the past 5 years too, having produced 11 studio albums. The band’s musicians have studied at such prestigious institutions as the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, to name a few.
This should make for an entertaining evening at the Palladium.
