“Indulge your senses.” That is the tag line for ORANJE 2013. What the heck is ORANJE, you ask?
It is one of the most prominent contemporary art & music events in the Central Indiana area, one in which artists of all sorts come together for a night of art, music, food and drink. It takes place Saturday, October 12 at the State Fairgrounds as is open to anyone over 21 yrs old (see below).
Cool, contemporary art will be on display and available for purchase. This year’s collection of artists spans a wide range of media and includes artists painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, metal workers, ceramicists, glassblowers, poets, hair designers, woodworkers, composers, fashion designers, cartoonists, DJs, musicians, performance artists and chefs.
Guests are encouraged to not only look at and buy art, but to BECOME art by adding their own creative expression to the celebration. ORANJE is about culture, interaction and sharing in a stimulating, urban environment.
Twenty-seven artists will be in attendance, and 31 different music acts, including Black Cat Rebellion, Audiodacity, Jeremy Daeger, DJ Monte Carlo and The Proforms w/ DJ Spoolz to name a few, will perform on 3 different stages in half-hour increments throughout the duration of the event.
Sun King Brewing Co. will provide drinks, and Barto’s Catering will provide the grub.
There is an interesting history behind ORANJE. It started in 2002 when Ryan Hickey and Adam Crockett, the recent college grads, were intent on throwing a cool, art-themed party where link-minded friends could come together, socialize and immerse themselves in art.
They chose empty warehouse at 1200 South Madison Street. After an entire summer preparing of preparations, they were pleasantly surprised when over 700 people showed up for the first event. With that kind of success it was an easy decision to do another one, and then another one, and then another one… you get the idea.
