Our family discovered Brickworld Indy last year and we couldn’t wait to attend! Brickworld is Indianapolis’ very own LEGO fan exposition, put on by the Indy LUG (LEGO User Group). My husband was a huge fan of LEGO bricks when he was a kid and he’s excited that our kids are just now getting out of the phase of putting everything in their mouths so that they too can enjoy building. You can take your family this year on Saturday, March 8th and Sunday, March 9th.
When you enter the Ag. Hort. Building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, you and your kids will be surrounded by display after display of LEGO brick setups that have had so much time and money put into them. You’ll have a chance to play a sort of Where’s Waldo type of game with the lists of Seek and Finds for each display. Attendees can control the fighting robots, build in the DUPLO and LEGO play areas, drive remote control trucks over rough LEGO terrain and shop from LEGO vendors.
My children spent hours looking around, taking pictures and video of their favorite things and participating in the hands on activities throughout the expo hall. With the popularity of the LEGO movie this year, you can expect to see a huge group of new LEGO fans at Brickworld this year. A small amount of food was available for sale and there was a picnic area for eating. Don’t forget to bring a little bit of extra cash for the unique LEGO products and accessories that will be for sale at the event.
