Last week I was able to catch up with several friends who were also taking some time off of work due to spring break. After days and days of experiencing kid friendly fun, we were all ready for an adult respite. Enter Cafe Patachou. With several locations around the city, chances are there’s one in your neck of the woods, ready with hot coffee and good conversation.
We left the kids on a playdate with a favorite babysitter while we walked down to neighborhood hotspot, Cafe Patachou at 49th & Penn. When we entered around 1pm, the restaurant was busy, but a table was ready for us within minutes. We started with coffee, because everyone drinks coffee from their self-serve coffee stations. It’s fresh and delicious, and you don’t want to miss it.
Since it was a celebratory lunch, we also ordered champagne cocktails- two bellinis and one mimosa, please! We then looked over the lunch menu. Just like the breakfast menu that focuses on local ingredients, the lunch menu is chock full of in-season, locally sourced food. We each landed on a different soup and salad combination. Two of us enjoyed the tomato artichoke soup, which was rich, tangy, and satisfying. The turkey chili also got rave reviews. The house salad was full of fresh greens, and the cobb salad was full of all kinds of goodness, including avocado and bacon. The service is always attentive, and our food was served in a timely manner. As we dined, the lunch crowd thinned, so that by the time we were done around 2pm, there were only a few patrons sipping on coffee. Our hour escape was a great way to recharge and reconnect with friends at the same time.
