Each year, WTHR presents a health & fitness expo, but I never really thought of it as something fun for the family. Today, I was invited to participate as part of the #13HealthExpo social media team and next time, I’m bringing the whole family!
In addition to health-related vendor booths, there are several fun activities and demos everyone will enjoy. The Healthy Cooking Stage even offers yummy samples when the demo is complete!
Here are 4 reasons I think everyone should visit the Health & Fitness Expo tomorrow:
Celebrity interviews, photos, and autograph opportunities: Tomorrow, Andrew Luck is headlining; he’ll be on the mainstage at noon, followed by Bret Michaels. Today, I had the chance to hear Sarah Fisher talk about life as a race car driver, though she claims to not be a celebrity. She’s just a mom with a really cool job.
Health Screenings: There are more than 20 different health screenings on site, including cholesterol, blood pressure, oral cancer, and chiropractic. Some screenings are available at various vendor booths, but you will find most at the Health Screening Clinic in the middle of the expo hall.
Hands-on fitness activities: In addition to the healthy cooking demonstrations, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in fitness sessions, race stationary bikes with local mascots, run obstacles with the Indiana State Police, and experience training exercises with USA Gymnastics and USA Track & Field.
Amazing demonstrations: There are trampoline and tumbling demonstrations from USA Gymnastics at 11:30 and 1:40. You do not want to miss seeing the awesome maneuvers these kids are able to do. There are also demos from Indy Sabre Fencing Club and Indiana Martial Arts.
Swag: You will receive a pedometer as soon as you walk in the door, to track your steps throughout the expo hall and keep you fit at home. There are also several freebies from vendors, a WTHR prize wheel, and giveaways like a ride in Chopper 13. But don’t enter that one; I want to win!
The WTHR Health & Fitness Expo is today and tomorrow, 10am-5pm at the Indy State Fairgrounds Expo Hall. Tickets are $5 at the door or free online with promo code HEALTH.
