#Indianapolis – Tortas Guicho Dominguez y El Cubanito restaurant may not have the most simplistic name but its mission compensates for that. What is that mission exclty? To serve authentic Mexican tortas to the Indianapolis community.

A torta is a Mexican sandwich that is usually served with avacado, meat and cheese. Tortas vary though depending on where the place that is serving them and Tortas Guicho is no different.

Naming its tortas after celebrities in both Latin American and American pop culture sphere, the name of your torta may be anything from Enrique Iglesias to Katy Perry. This playfulness with its tortas makes choosing which celebrate you’ll devour a fun part of the dinning experiences.

I settle on the “Megan Fox.”  A grilled chicken breast torta topped with mozzarella, queso fresco and chorizo. The “Megan Fox” is recommended to me by friends who rave about it as a go-to sandwich at Tortas Guicho.

Before my “Megan Fox” torta is brought out for my tasting I order chips and queso, which are not complementary with the meal, and are relatively inexpensive. Rich and cheesy, the queso was a good appetizer and portioned well. It wasn’t enough to consume your appetite but enough to start the meal out right.

After the appetizer it was on to the entree. The “Megan Fox” torta has a spicy kick, as I have been told is common for all of Tortas Guicho’s tortas, that is gently coated by mozzarella and queso fresco and wonderfully complemented with the earthy taste provided by the avocado.

Familiar with Mexican cuisine, tortas are something I’ve never tasted before. I was glad I stopped in to taste this spicy sandwich which opened up my sinuses with a good kick that wasn’t overwhelming.

Tortas Guicho Dominguez y El Cubanito is a small restaurant on the corner of Virginia Street in Fountain Square. It’s a great place to visit for brunch on the weekends or to pick up a nicely portioned meal which has a little zest.

The “Megan Fox” didn’t disappoint as an entree, and like the rest of the menu, was relatively cheap for those looking for a restaurant with their budget in mind.
