#Indianapolis – Broadway season in Indianapolis kicked off this weekend with an amazing performance of Mamma Mia! I saw the show at Clowes Memorial Hall on opening night with my husband. It was beautiful, delightful, and quite a challenge not to singalong at full volume. ABBA is probably one of the most fun musical soundtracks to sing.
There is pretty much nothing about Mamma Mia! that I didn’t absolutely love. The costumes were incredible, the storyline is fun, and the music is amazing. My inner dancing queen was out in full force — especially during the epic, 15-minute encore. It has to be the greatest finale I’ve ever seen on stage.
It was the perfect start to an incredible season lineup. The next show is also at Clowes Memorial — the teen is crazy excited to see Elf the Musical in December. It’s part of the 5-show season ticket option, along with several other family-friendly productions.
It’s one of the most kid-friendly seasons I’ve ever seen. Even Mamma Mia!, save for a few mild innuendos, would have been fun for our kids. I definitely liked it better as a date night, but I’ll be taking a child with me for most of the season.
